EXPERIENCE
Jan 2005 to Present
Information Resources Inc., Chicago, Illinois.
Manager/Marketing Science Research Lead
Worked in Department of Analytic Research & Development,
responsible for a variety of research and development projects.
Responsibilities include theoretical research, creating models,
finding good measures, project planning and hands on coding of computer
programs. Sample projects include:
- Consumer Decision Trees and Maps. This SAS based application of
cluster analysis
- Can determine the competitive structure of the CPG products of any
given Category and how the products interact with each other.
- Can provide an insightful understanding of how consumers are
purchasing the CPG products and actionable input into key category
management efforts including shelf placement, assortment and promotion
planning.
- Can identify opportunities for new product introductions, line
extensions, and brand repositioning.
- Shopper Insights. The objective of the project is to develop
integrated analytical and automated solutions to obtain actionable
insights into shoppers’ needs, attitudes, preferences, and behavior to
optimize shopper-insight-based decisions for CPG retailers and
manufacturers. Especially, one of the focuses is the study of Trip
Mission Types.
- Forecasting New Product’ s Performance. Given the cost and risk of
launching a new product, firms often undertake some form of test market
in order to gain a more accurate read on the new product’s performance
before final decisions about the product launch are made. The objective
of this project is to create a forecasting application, which provides an
accurate forecast of overall new product sales. By analyzing the linkage
between the trial and repeat purchase processes, this application allows
managers to carefully diagnose the subcomponents of new products
sales.
