Work Experience: (6+ Years)

Statistical Experience: (1.2 Years)

Dept of Mathematics (Under Prof Ery-Arias Castro & Bruce Arnold), UCSD (Sep 2006 to present)
Tools being used: SPSS, Clementine, SQL, Excel

Currently working on a project for University of San Diego, where we evaluate the performance of students after 1 quarter, who were placed in Math stream, based on their performance in Math Placement Exam conducted by the Math department of UCSD. We check the effectiveness of the placement exams regarding the increase in the number of false negatives & false positives by using data mining techniques and developing models. The report consists of basic statistics analysis, audits, plots, classification, web analysis, logistic regression, linear regression, CHAID, QUEST, C5, CRT, Neural nets, Kohonen and Cluster analyses to predict the false positives and false negatives. This helps the university decide better placement methods.

Analysis of drug efficiency (2 months)
Tools used: SPSS, Excel.

We were given fictional data about a drug from a pharmaceutical firm & were suppose to apply the statistical tools to data which will help us analyze & conclude about the about the performance of the drug on the heart rate of the subjects who received the fictional drug as compared to the subjects who received placebo. Also the statistical tools were applied to check the relation between group assignment and the gender and calculate the power of the drug.

Mathematical Experience: (5 years +)

Gee-bee’s Overseas Education Center (January 2003 to Dec 2005)

I headed the mathematics department. I was the sole point of contact for this department. The main aim of this department was to impart math education to graduates in preparation for competitive exams like GRE, GMAT, SAT. The class size ranged from 20-35. This was a fun way of teaching basic mathematics which seemed missing from knowledge base of many students. Since joining the department, I have managed to increase student enrollment growth by 4 times. My responsibilities included:

  • Managing assignments for staff.
  • Designing course work.
  • Teaching course work.
  • Evaluating and refining course work for better results.
  • Promoting department and its unique strengths to get a larger client base.

SNDT Women’s University, Institute of Technology for Women (Jan 2000 to Jan 2003)

I taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th semester engineering students. Most classes were of the size of about 100-120 students. The following topics were covered:

  • Integration (multivariate calculus including double & triple integration, curve tracing, rectification of curves, error functions and beta gamma functions)
  • Differential Equation(Exact D.E., Integrating factor, Bernoulli’s equation, Cauchy and Legendre's linear equation, Differential operators).
  • Matrices (Quadratic forms, Reduction and canonical forms).
  • Complex Numbers, Laplace transforms, Fourier series.
  • Derivatives, Application of Derivatives.
  • Integration, Methods of Integration, Definite Integrals, Application of definite Integrals.
  • Determinants, Binomial theorem, Logarithms.
  • Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios of Allied, Compound & Multiple Angles, Properties of Triangle.
  • Co-ordinate Geometry including Point & Distance, Straight lines, Circle.

Statistical Education (UCSD)
  • Mathematical Statistics: The course dwelt on the following topics: Introduction to probability. Discrete and continuous random variables: binomial, Poisson and Gaussian distributions. Central limit theorem. Data analysis and inferential statistics: graphical techniques, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, curve fitting.
  • Biostatistics: The course covered the following topics in detail: Parametric statistics, correlation, regression, ANOVA, and methods in discrete statistical analysis (binomial distribution, Chi square tests), as well as basic probability theory.
  • Intermediate Statistics: The topics covered were ANOVA, multiple comparisons, linear regression, multiple and nonlinear regression, nonparametric methods, tests on distributions, tests on variances, survival analysis and multivariate methods.
  • Data Mining and business objects: This course covers the basics of data mining for business applications, an overview of the basic tools and techniques, and includes an abundance of case studies. It explains what data mining can do to enable business intelligence. The examples of the applications of data mining involve a variety of successful real-life projects, that focus on the analysis, prediction, marketing, investments, and business practices in a manner that enable educated decision-making by executives to drive revenues and reduce costs.

Certificate course in Software Testing:

The Testing course was comprehensive 96 hour course that dealt in detail about issues of testing. The program started off from fundamentals of Basic software testing, testing in Software Development Life Cycle, Test management, static testing, dynamic testing & use of test tools like Test Director and Winrunner.
