Responsibilities
The Statistics and Epidemiology Unit is seeking a Research Statistician in our Atlanta, Georgia office.
Typical responsibilities will include: - The application of standard statistical and/or data management software package(s) to execute data processing, and data analysis activities
- Conducting data processing and technically complicated data analysis with minimal or no supervision
- Development of solutions to problems where established theories and techniques have not been identified or where procedures are not established or are available
- Assist or lead in the preparation, presentation, and follow-up of research proposals by providing computer programming support and analysis as well as writing sections of the technical proposal
- Participation in appropriate professional development and scientific stature efforts.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications include: - Strong oral and written skills (as demonstrated in a writing sample and possible presentation), are essential.
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Mathematics with at least 3 years of nonacademic related experience in the aforementioned areas of study
- Your experience should incude at least 1 year of data management and analytic experience with R, Java, Perl, SAS or Excel.
- Familiarity with genetics and bioinformatics
- Demonstrated data manipulation and data management skills
Desired Qualifications - Experience with expression analysis, linkage, or association studies
- Background or degree in biology, zoology, or other health science
- Experience analyzing weighted data generated by survey designs in the social sciences, including education, health, and the environment.
