Responsibilities
Responsible for both Risk Analytics and Model Risk. Plan, execute, and document analysis of complex financial models. Serve as a quantitative subject matter expert for Internal Audit in its performance of audits, investigations, and reviews. Develop agreed-upon corrective actions for model deficiencies through consultation with audit clients. Offer insights into how clients can improve the quality of their modeling. Prepare and review model assessment procedures and prepare final reports for approval. Interact with clients for the purpose of assessing the materiality of models, analyzing problems, developing alternatives, building consensus and supporting implementation of solutions. Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers. Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to relationship. Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Manages activities of two or more sections or departments through subordinate managers. Typically has 12 + years related experience and 4+ years management experience. College Degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree expected.
Additional Specifications
Direct all model validation and audit activity related to servicer implementations of the Net Present Value (NPV) and related financial models supporting the Department of the Treasury¿s Home Affordability Modification Program (HAMP). - Lead or colead the planning of model audit and model validation objectives, plans, approaches, and criteria.
- Conduct onsite and offsite model audits and validation reviews for HAMP program participants, evaluating adherence to program guidelines ¿ both implementation accuracy and model soundness.
- Develop agreedupon corrective actions for model deficiencies through consultation with audit clients.
- Prepare and review model assessment procedures and prepare final reports for approval.
- Advise program participants and program executives, in the assessment of the materiality of models, analyzing problems, developing alternatives, building consensus and supporting implementation of solutions.
Required skills include:- Directly relevant experience leading model audits and model validation, especially for financial models with complex cash flows
- Experience in defining, executing, and improving model audit and model validation procedures that are consistent with audit standards and best practices
- Broad background in cash flow model development, assessment, AND for financial services institutions
- Strong knowledge of the secondary mortgage market and mortgage servicing processes
- Demonstrated ability to successfully influence others in adoption of model recommendations and improvement strategies
- Strong work planning and project management skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including presentations and briefings.
