BI Data Analyst - Oakland, CA
General Overview:
Responsible for working with the business and other members within IT in enhancing the business intelligence function at Cost Plus. Participate in the design, development and implementation of the enterprise-wide business intelligence solution.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: - Work with IT executives and other members of the IT BI team to establish the BI Management and Administration strategy
- Work closely with selected areas of the business to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop solutions
- Participate in application related projects, including upgrades and implementations, representing the BI interests of Cost Plus with minimal guidance from management
- Identify, design and document processes & procedures. Ensure compliance with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Implement procedures to support change management, ETL processes, and security
- Work with identified data owners for each application to establish and document roles/classes, access levels, rules, checks/balances
- Research and recommend changes to business and technology that will enhance the effective use of BI including but not limited to performance
- Train all associates, contractors, alliance or other third parties on BI requirements at Cost Plus World Market
- Create and monitor processes to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, VISA PCI and other regulatory and industry security standards
Job Requirements:- Production experience building medium to large scale (1 to 5 TB) SQL Server 2005 databases, Analytical Services Data Cubes, Reporting Services and OLTP processes is required
- 5+ years experience in Software/Microsoft development
- SSIS, SSAS, and MDX knowledge
- Knowledge of PerformancePoint Server a plus
- Retail experience preferred
- 2+ years experience in Visual Studio .NET 2003/2005 preferred (VB.NET and AVR.NET Web development experience is a plus)
- Experience in deploying executive dashboards preferred
- Web Services
- Ability to work independently in dynamic environment
- Strong leadership and project management skills; demonstrated ability of strategic thinking
- Outstanding verbal and written communications
