Providing high-quality analytics helps advertisers and agencies to buy media more effectively, and enables publishers to sell their inventory for a higher price; it also enables us (and our agency partners) to build deeper relationships with customers through world-class service.
We are seeking an experienced Director of Analytics to lead the development of our analytics and reporting technology and tools across Microsoft’s owned & operated properties like MSN, Xbox and Windows Live Services, as well as on third-party partner inventory directly via tools and through our ad networks. The Director of Analytics will establish the strategy and requirements for Microsoft’s web analytics platform. S/he will partner with a team of world-class engineers, client service, business operations, legal, privacy and product marketers to envision and design the industry’s best technology and tools to report on and help improve advertising ROI. The candidate chosen for this position will be responsible for creating the analytics product roadmap, developing and prioritizing product requirements and designing service models to support the sale and delivery of analytics. S/he will be Microsoft’s resident expert on web analytics and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional team made up of world-class engineers, client services, business operations, legal, privacy and product marketers to develop the vision and business strategy for the Microsoft’s analytics business
- Author market requirements documents and publish an annual product roadmap, updating quarterly based on business performance, industry trends and market feedback
- Articulate the analytics product roadmap to key customers and partners, and aggregate industry feedback in a form that is actionable for development
- Drive long-range, multi-release planning for Microsoft’s analytics platform and products
- Develop viable business models for analytics products and investments. Analyze the impact of analytics on Microsoft’s revenue streams
Qualifications
We are looking for a strong, strategic manager with a deep passion for advertising technology. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of the web analytics industry and at least 8 years of experience in product management, planning, or management consulting. S/he will have at least 4 years managing high performing teams. S/he will be effective in presenting to executives, have demonstrated experience in project management and will have strong analytical skills. Strong cross-group collaboration skills are required as you will work across multiple teams both within the division and across Microsoft. Solid oral and written communication skills are required. An ability to explain complex issues in an understandable way is required. BA/BS highly desired. MS or MBA and technical background are preferred.
