Customer Insights Analyst - Google (Mountain View, CA)

The area: Online Operations

The Online Sales and Operations team keeps Google growing and profitable. We are dedicated to supporting the company's growing base of advertisers, publishers and users in more than 40 languages on a global basis, and providing them with the highest levels of service. We are responsible for generating revenue from a broad range of products such as AdWords, AdSense, Gmail and Google Earth. This means that OSO team members need to be proactive, motivated, organized, responsible ­ and able to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The role: Customer Insights Analyst

Google's Customer Insights group seeks a talented and passionate analyst to drive research and analysis of Google's customers. The ideal candidate is data focused and seeks constant challenge. Familiarity with multivariate statistical data analysis (e.g., regression, factor analysis, and multivariate analysis) in either academic coursework or project/work experience. Experience using statistical tools such as SPSS or SAS a plus.

The Customer Insights group utilizes behavioral science, market research, and business analytic techniques to better understand the perceptions and behavior of our advertisers, publishers, and users.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and managing quantitative and qualitative studies of our customers.
  • Working product and customer teams across Google to design experiments and analyses to address key business needs.
  • Analyzing online survey, behavioral, and advertiser spending data, interpreting results, and presenting critical findings and recommendations.
  • Determining key drivers of customer satisfaction and spend, modeling customer behavior, and identifying areas for improvement in Google's business operations.

Requirements:
  • MA or MS in market research, marketing, psychology, statistics, math, computer science, or other research and data intensive field.
  • 2 years of research or business analysis experience (academic or work).
  • Excellent analytic skills including experience with excel and at least one statistical package.
  • Some experience in analyzing customer database data. SQL skills a plus.
  • Proven history of self-direction, problem solving, organizational and project management.
  • Capable of handling multiple mission-critical projects simultaneously; able to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills a must (subject to testing).
