Research Engineer - Qualtech IT Services (Gurgoan, India)

This is Jitendra and I am working with Qualtech IT Services, New Delhi. Currently We have an opening with a company that works in Network Security and Data Mining. We are looking for a candidate with experience in Data Mining with good understanding of Algorithms and Mathematics.

Job Title: Research Engineer
Location: Gurgaon, Delhi/NCR

Must Have:

  • 2 yrs or more, hands on experience with Data Mining
  • Good understanding of Algorithms and Mathematics (Linear Algebra)
  • Good understanding of relational database concepts, familiarity with SQL is a plus

Company Brief: It is a network data mining startup based on patent- pending technology developed at Sprint Labs, Intel Research and Boston University. The company is funded by VC companies in Bangalore and California. They have developed a network-wide security & operational intelligence platform which provides real-time, whole-network visibility by analyzing traffic and routing data from across the entire network. It fuses traffic (NetFlow) and routing protocols (ISIS, BGP) to construct traffic matrices for the network, and provides global visibility to the network data flow. From this global data, it extracts anomaly information to detect, localize and classify unusual conditions, ranging from abuse-related threats (infrastructure attacks, attacks on customer networks, worm epidemics) to operational incidents (overloads, failures) to new, previously unseen threats. It closes the loop by suggesting a mitigation response and subsequently filtering the unwanted traffic at the operator's discretion. The product is seeing successful runs at companies like Internet2, AOL, Sprint and Google.

Some of interesting stuff that has been added on this product and might be of interest to Mathematicians or Statisticians

  • developing a robust false call elimination algorithm so that the network operators does not expend their valuable time in chasing the non existing anomalies.
  • Implemented the Entropy based Traffic features for Classifying the Network Anomalies (like DDOS, Port Scan, Worm, DOS, Traffic Shift, Outages)
  • Implemented the Lanczos Bidiagonalization Technique for computing the "Partial Singular Value Decomposition" of Traffic Matrix which is in turn used for detecting the Network Anomalies.
  • Developed Algorithm for "Incremental Singular Value Decomposition" which can Detect anomalies on sliding Time Window using minimal time .
