Data Mining Analyst, Microsoft adCenter Labs - Microsoft (Redmond, WA)

The Microsoft adCenter Labs team provides applied research, data analysis, and data mining services to support MSN/Windows Live monetization strategies worldwide. This position requires someone experienced in solving marketing and business problems using appropriate data analysis and data mining methodologies. This is an exciting and challenging position, providing the successful candidate an opportunity to generate high industry-impact analyses and solve business-related research problems. Work on projects may include segmentation studies, methodology research, tool evaluations, model development/refinement and deployment. The ideal candidate will also serve or grow into a subject matter expert on user modeling, business intelligence, CRM and ad targeting needs for Microsoft.

Job Description and Qualifications

Core Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have:

• Experience solving ad targeting, marketing and business problems using applied research, data analysis and data mining on large real-world business data sets
• User segmentation modeling and research background
• Broad experience with various data analysis tools, data mining tools, and statistical packages
• Familiarity with applying data mining techniques (i.e. classification, clustering, association mining, forecasting), statistics and information retrieval methods to real-world data
• Superior communications skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently and in a team to research innovative solutions to challenging business problems
• Attention to detail and data accuracy
• Good scripting and rapid prototyping skills, i.e. preferred fluency in the following: SQL, Perl, C#
• Preferred fluency in one or more of the following languages: French, Spanish, German, Japanese
• MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent is required for this position
