Cancer Epidemiologist - MattsonJack (San Francisco, CA)
MattsonJack is seeking a Cancer Epidemiologist to join the group at our San Francisco Bay Area office. This position will be responsible for conducting independent secondary epidemiological research and analysis with a global scope (key regions include the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan). A major area of MattsonJack specialization relates to the development of oncology patient and treatment projections.
Duties include: - Develop quantitative epidemiological models from published and/or registry data, resulting in an estimation of potential patient populations within specific tumor types.
- Extract relevant information from large databases (e.g. SEER, cancer registry data, IARC, etc).
- Produce clear and concise written reports documenting the methodology used to obtain the patient population estimates.
- Conduct literature and abstract searches from regional conferences regarding changes in epidemiology.
- Be an active, willing and cooperative partner with other members of project teams.
- Assist clients and MattsonJack colleagues in presenting the results of the epidemiology/treatment analyses and understanding the market implications of oncology patient population estimates.
- Assist the Epi Group leader in monitoring the quality control/ assurance process for all cancer epidemiology materials, both syndicated and custom.
- Provide ongoing input to improve the oncology epidemiology consulting service.
- Proactively pursue additional oncology epidemiology related project work and other business development activities as assigned.
- Travel domestically and internationally - 10% initially, possibly more in future.
The successful candidate will possess:- Advanced degree in epidemiology (MPH or PhD) and/or oncology epidemiology experience would be a plus
- Science background.
- Experience in quantitative and scientific analysis.
- Experience working with data.
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS or STATA
- Strong willingness to learn.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of current oncology treatment practices would be a plus.
