This is a fantastic opportunity for a nearly qualified actuary to join the UK's leading insurance company, Royal & SunAlliance. As Actuarial Advisor you will provide pricing support to Underwriters and contribute to a wide variety of actuarial and other investigations, pulling together appropriate data and using a wide range of analytical tools to analyse the performance of large commercial risks.
Requirements
- A minimum of completion of the CT series and subjects CA1 and ST3 of the Actuarial exams (or equivalent qualification)
- Good communication skills; ability to establish close working relationships with IS, Underwriting and Claims; ability to train junior staff.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to identify and interpret features and trends in data and to manipulate it
- Ability to interpret figures within Broker environment
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access or equivalent; existing knowledge or aptitude to quickly develop knowledge of actuarial software such as EMBLEM and ResQ
Responsibilities- Guiding actuarial trainees
- Developing and managing relationships with Underwriters
- Maintaining and improving case pricing technical standards
- Liaising with larger Commercial Pricing team and embedding their analyses in to case pricing work
- Working closely with IS and the Underwriting team to develop an understanding of our data and current systems
- Promoting the use of actuarial techniques and software to analyse data within the team; developing new and refining existing methods of producing risk rates
- Recommending expense, reinsurance and all other non-risk loadings for new pricing models
- Assisting in the implementation of new pricing models
The Individual
Able to manage work flow in a pressurised environment, you will excel at multi-tasking and work effectively within a team as well as independently. You will have a good business knowledge as well as proven data handling skills and a good working knowledge of actuarial techniques. Strong mathematical ability and the aptitude to apply actuarial principles to general insurance in unfamiliar situations with minimum guidance is essential to your success in this role.
