Director level Biostatistician (Assistant to Senior Director), Wyeth Pharmaceuticals

There are a number of opportunities with Wyeth\'s Global Biostatistics and Programming Group (GBP) that could be in one of three locations: Collegeville (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Cambridge (Boston, Massachusetts), Pearl River (close to New York, New York).

Job Summary

• Director level Biostatisticians should be people of vision, should stay current on all new developments and technological advancement both in statistics and programming areas. Directors should be a respected individual in their area of discipline; these qualities will have been obtained over the years by being innovative, active in publications, committee activities, presentations or other related activities. Their expertise level should be such that they have the foresight of advising on the type of new training needed for the Biostatistical and Clinical Technology group. This includes resource allocation, directing the scheduling of work assignments, and monitoring project status so as to assure timely completion of projects. All of which requires experience and the ability to influence others.
• Directors should be fully knowledgeable concerning the FDA, International Regulatory Agencies, and ICH guidelines and regulations applicable for the conduct, analysis and reporting of clinical trials and data systems.
• Directors provide a vision for growth and development of multi-national activities within the company. Directors are a strong advocate for creating an environment where strong statistical and programming methodological development and exchanges prevail in the company. They are strong advocates within Clinical Research & Development (CR&D) for Biostatistics group taking a prominent role in the development process.
• Directors must posses the ability to plan, direct and coordinate a variety of specialized and complex research projects. Directors must have knowledge of clinical data management tools and ability to interpret results from clinical studies. Directors should have ability to develop and implement new initiatives and lead groups in strategic planning.

Basic Qualifications

• Masters Degree (Biostastics or Statistics major is preferred).
• Relevant work experience - Bachelors Degree plus at least 11 years, a Masters Degree plus at least 7 years or a Doctorate Degree and at least 5 years.
• Discover, clinical pharmacology, preclinical and/or clinical trial experience.
• Preferred Professional Experience (one or more of the following areas):
• A thorough knowledge of the theory and techniques of applied statistical methods in pharmaceutical industry, such as, Experimental Designs, ANOVA, Linear Models, non-parametric, regression, correlation analysis, categorical data analysis, survival analysis, Longitudinal Data Analysis (LDA), Data Mining Techniques, Adaptive Designs and Clinical Trial Designs.
• Programming skill in SAS and good understanding of the data base systems.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of clinical data analysis and reporting process as it pertains to drug development.
• Leadership experience pertaining to technical biostatistic skills, department/group/project management experience, and/or people management experience.
